Michael Vick, back so soon?
He was just in town two months ago to pick up an Ed Block Courage Award but Michael Vick will be back today to talk about dogfighting with juvenile offenders.
Media won't be allowed into the talk, which begins at 5 p.m. So we won't know exactly what Vick tells the kids, the manner in which he tells it -- or even what they ask him about. However, the convicted dogfighter who now plays for the Philadelphia Eagles is set to be outside at 6:15 to talk to reporters.
At the extensive protests here for last visit, some activists said they'd like Vick to come to Baltimore to warn kids from following in his animal cruelty footsteps.
Here's what the release says:
"The Maryland Department of Juvenile Services is pleased to join forces with The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) in order to raise awareness among youth about the serious implications of dogfighting and animal cruelty.
The HSUS has given Michael Vick the opportunity to participate in its community-based End Dogfighting outreach programs designed to steer kids away from dogfighting. The HSUS took note of the anti-gang and anti-violence programs done by others in urban communities, and re-engineered these programs to combat dogfighting. These programs are built around the leadership of ex-dogfighters who have turned around their lives and who are now engaging kids in more positive interactions with pit bulls."
